Mikayla Whitmore, THIS TIME AROUND, September 20 - October 7 in the Marjorie Barrick Museum Lobby. The artist will host a special Visitor-Made on October 4, 5-8 p.m. in the Barrick's Lobby. Visitors are invited to build miniture signs with the materials provided. For more info click here.

One of the last two events of Diane Bush's politically inspired art project DISHING IT OUT, October 7 at First Friday, downtown Las Vegas from 6-10. A portion of the proceeds benefits the Las Vegas Arts Academy Scholarship fund and Rock the Vote volunteers will be on hand to register voters.

In Transition: Female Figurines from the Michael C. and Mannetta Braunstein Collection. This exhibition focuses on the female figurine, specifically those forms depicting the transition from maidenhood to motherhood. At theMarjorie Barrick Museum.

The Settlers + Nomads 5 for FIVE interview serieswill be published in an upcoming catalogue from the Marjorie Barrick Museum featuring the work of Deborah Aschheim, Erin Cosgrove, Lucky DeBellevue, Ash Ferlito and David Gilbert from the recent exhibition FIVE, with the the generous support of Las Vegas arts patron Patrick Duffy. The interviews with each of the five artists were a collaboration with fellow Settlers D.K. Sole and Alisha Kerlin of the Marjorie Barrick Museum and were published in August and September on the S + N blog. Underwitten by Patrick Duffy "With hopes that the next show at the Barrick encourages the next catalog underwriter." Thanks to Ed Fuentes (Paint This Desert) for his design work on the catalogue which will be available at the Marjorie Barrick Museum in Fall 2016. Call for Applications

The Department of Art at the University of Nevada Las Vegas invites applications for two eight-week periods in its spring Artist in Residence Program. AIR schedule: January 16–March 12 (session 1) and March 13–May 13 (session 2). Review of applications will begin October 7, 2016. Complete applications submitted by this date will receive full consideration. For more information click here.

Surface Design Association member and non-member artists working in or inspired by fiber arts and/or textile media are invited to submit work for a juried issue of the Surface Design Journal entitled Crafting Community: SDA Inaugural International Exhibition in Print. Selected work will appear in print in the winter 2016 issue of the Surface Design Journal (publication date December 23, 2016). Deadline October 15. Link to call here.

BOX 13 ArtSpace is an artist run, non-profit, innovative environment for the creation and advancement of experimental contemporary art in Houston. BOX 13 ArtSpace is currently accepting proposals for 2017 – 2018 for exhibitions in its two Downstairs Galleries and Window BOX Gallery. Artists and curators are invited to submit recent (or proposed) experimental works not previously shown in Houston. The submission deadline is October 30, 2016. Read the call here.
